Watchdog says discusses tax evasion with beer producers

MOSCOW, Dec 13 (PRIME) -- The Federal Tax Service has discussed a mechanism of illegal hidden production and sales of beer and beer beverages with breweries and suggested the violators pay additional taxes voluntarily, the authority said on Wednesday after meeting with the representatives of the beer industry.

"The main topic was the tax risks connected with the use of schemes of hidden production and sales of beer and beer products, and beer production under the disguise of alcohol-free products," the authority said.

"We are analyzing activity of the companies and see elevated amounts of purchases of malt, hops, resources. At the same time, the production capacities are loaded insignificantly," the tax authority said adding that no special package for alcohol-free products is purchased in cases when such products are stated.

The companies were proposed to present corrected tax declarations and pay the taxes voluntarily.
